5 Before & After Photos that Show the Benefits of Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry is a safe and common practice that involves treatment that improves the appearance of teeth, gums and bite. It focuses on how a smile looks and the confidence you’ll feel from an enhanced set of pearly whites, but it can also be used to improve the overall health of your mouth. Check out these before and after photos to see how cosmetic dentistry can benefit you.

Removing White Marks

Unsightly developmental white marks were treated with a DMG Icon which gently removed them. These marks are hypomineralised enamel ie enamel which has formed in a disorganised way with less mineralisation. DMG Icon gently removes the white patches and the tooth area treated is sealed with a very strong resin.

Treating Decay and Gum Infection

The decay around the join between the old crowns and the front teeth was addressed by placing new dental crowns, making the smile appear whiter and fuller. The gaps around the old crowns led to food trapping and poor gum health. Thorough cleaning of this area and placement of beautifully fitting new dental crowns meant speedy recovery of the gum tissue. Tooth decay and gum infection can be caused by many things, including inadequate brushing/flossing, smoking, frequently eaten sugary/acidic foods and drinks........

Fixing Snapped Cusp and plus Removal Of Old Mercury Filling

A snapped cusp was restored and an old mercury filling was safely removed at the same time by placing an emax porcelain overlay crown, which required very minimal preparation but hit two birds with one stone. A cusp is one of the raised parts of the biting surface of both molar and premolar teeth. Cusps can break of during chewing especially if the tooth has been fixed earlier in its life with a filling - see "why do teeth with mercury amalgam fillings snap"

Repairing Accident Damaged Teeth

This lovely lady fell breaking her upper incisors. We repaired these teeth with colour matched composite resin white fillings.

Restoring Missing Tooth

The missing canine tooth gap was fixed with a dental implant. Dental implants are a natural-looking tooth replacement that is pretty much as strong as a real tooth. It can replace a lost tooth or teeth lost in an accident or through gum infection or tooth decay.
